Bibliographic style?

I was reminded tonight by Booth, Columb, and Williams that I need to cite my bibliographic info in the correct way for UMass. What style are we required to use? Is there a cheat sheet? Is it advisor dependent?

I'll offer a more formal introduction soon, but figured I could make a contribution here. Most of the relevant bibliographical info is found within the University's Diss and Thesis guidelines:

http://www.umass.edu/gradschool/thesis/pdf_files/guidelines.pdf

The intro states that you designate what style you used when you submit the manuscript. Appendix B offers suggested style manuals to use, and includes MLA (thank God) and Chicago. If you go through the sample pages in the guidelines, there are some specifics about footnoting, margins, etc.

Thanks, Tim. I have yet to discover the wealth (of what I expect will be confusing) information from the University on this whole process. Looking forward to your post!
